About 10 years ago, we began putting on a yearly marriage event at Metropolitan. The leadership at MBC had taken a survey in our community, and what we were hearing was that if we offered practical help for marriage and parenting, people would come. That’s certainly what has happened. I’ve been surprised by the response from our community over the years. I don’t think I had any idea how popular this would become. What I take away from this is that couples are looking for help in a world that constantly works against healthy marriages.
In the first year of our marriage someone gave us a gift of two tickets to a marriage workshop at a local church. I kind of laughed to myself wondering, “What do we need this for?” But after the event, I remember thinking what a great experience that was and how much it helped us. I thought, “This is something we’re going to want to do again and again.”
Would you consider signing up to help make this event another great success? We need people to serve in childcare, as greeters and for check-in, and in the hospitality room. If you’re able to help either Friday night or Saturday morning, please call the church office (405-722-2550).
If you’re signed up for this marriage event, I know you’re going to be glad you came. If you’re not signed up, you can register for this free event at BetterMarriageOKC.com.
