It’s the home stretch for AWANA. The end of the year is approaching rapidly, and our AWANA kids are working hard to finish up their books. It’s so rewarding to see how God is using our faithful leaders and the AWANA program to help kids memorize God’s Word.
This was an amazing year in many ways. We had record attendance when compared to the last number of years with many new faces in attendance. When asked what drew them to our Wednesday evening kids program, parents of new children responded that they were looking for a midweek opportunity that would teach their children God’s Word. Several indicated that they didn’t have a church home. We are so glad to be a light in our community for the gospel. Many of these new families have also gotten involved in children’s choirs and have begun to attend on Sunday mornings as well.
Throughout the year I kept asking myself, “Could this be God rewarding our step of faith as a congregation?” I can’t help but wonder if God was sending us additional families in advance of our new children’s facility.
I’m so thankful for our caring AWANA leaders who show up faithfully each week and minister to these children by helping them memorize God’s Word, by teaching them, and by taking an interest in their lives. At the top of the list we want to thank Amy Coles, Metropolitan’s AWANA Commander. Amy is an excellent leader and recruiter and has faithfully led our AWANA program for several years. She did a great job welcoming new clubbers and encouraging the leaders. Way to go, Amy Coles and AWANA leaders!
Please join us on Wednesday, May 25, for the AWANA awards night as we celebrate a great AWANA year and the hard work of the children.
