Next Sunday will be a special day for us here at Metropolitan. Dr. Don Wyrtzen will be playing in our 8:30 a.m. service and preaching in both services, as well as leading an evening “Night of Praise.”
Pastor Faulkner has been directing our attention of late on the core values of our church. One of those values is worship, and Dr. Wyrtzen will speak to this in his message, “The Power of Music and the Power of God.” We will be encouraged as we hear about worship from someone who has devoted so much of his life to lead others in exalting our Lord and Savior. His teaching will be from Colossians 3, Ephesians 5, and Acts 16.
That evening at 6:00 p.m., he will bring a concert for our Night of Praise. Don is known as “The Poet of the Piano,” so it will be a special time to join with him as he plays and leads us in worship.
Here are some things others have said about his ministry:
“Hidden within this artist is a wellspring of fresh creativity that seems bottomless. From it flows imagination, spontaneity, other qualities seldom found within the same individual. To put it simply, Don Wyrtzen is rare.” (Dr. Charles Swindoll)
“Don leads us to walk in style with God. Don comes at worship and music from a theological perspective.” (Dr. Bruce Waltke)
“Brilliant musician, a highly articulate and intelligent spokesman for the faith, and a well-educated theologian.” (Bill Gaither)
“A trained theologian, he knows what God’s Word says about music and worship. As a gifted musician and concert artist, Don is acquainted with every aspect of the Contemporary Christian Music scene.” (Dr. Warren Wiersbe)
Bring someone with you to enjoy this “poet of the piano.”
