Kumar and Dileeni Abraham are Faith Promise missionaries serving in Sri Lanka with Serving in Mission (SIM). Kumar helps to plant churches among the urban poor Tamils, trains Sri Lankan evangelists, and heads a leadership team reaching Muslims. Dileeni trains Sri Lankan counselors, is attempting to launch a diploma and or an MA program in partnership with the Colombo Theological Seminary, and is a master facilitator for “Healing the Wounds of Trauma” (a program of the American Bible Society).
During the past 12 months they have seen Bible studies established, one student pass O/L math (the first in the community), and six graduate from the first ever certificate program in counseling. One of their great blessings this year was to see one of their contacts, a former Hindu, marry a believer. Though he was not established in the faith early on, with regular Bible study and fellowship he grew to the point of being a more responsible father. Kumar’s hope is that he can eventually become a house church pastor.
The Abrahams request prayer for the launching of the evangelists’ training program. They also need a lecturer/counselor to help Dileeni, and want to see the start of a house church. Join them in praying that the Lord will empower them for these tasks and provide for their needs.
