The loss of a loved one through death is undoubtedly one of the most difficult aspects of our life on earth. Our compassionate Father always gives us the grace and comfort we need in these dark hours. And, as Paul suggests in 2 Cor. 1:3-5, we are to comfort others – just as we have been comforted.
That’s why our GriefShare support group is so important. Not only can we can use the information provided in the program to help our minds heal, but we can be supportive of each other so that our hearts can begin to heal as well.
Over the years, this ministry has been used by God to help people going through very painful times. Here are comments from previous attendees:
After the death of my husband, facing the future was far from optimistic. There did not seem to be anyone who understood or even cared how deeply hurt and alone I felt. In the GriefShare group, I found understanding, compassion, support, and the resources I needed to help me recover and find strength to move forward. I still have a ways to go, but I know I am on the right path. There are good days and there are bad days, but I have joy in knowing God is in all my days. – Judy
The Grief Share study gave me practical insight and comfort as I was living in the fog of my Dad’s death. It is a safe place to give and receive encouragement, learn ways to cope, and understand how to move forward in life. – Janice
The grieving process is a complex layer of emotions. Feelings of loneliness and depression can become overwhelming. GriefShare helped me navigate through these issues – Peggy
Each GriefShare session is designed to help people understand their grief after the loss of a family member, friend or acquaintance. Each session combines practical information with a biblical, Christ-centered focus on the emotional and spiritual issues that accompany the grieving process. We strive to make the environment relaxed with no pressure to share before a person is ready.
If you’ve lost a loved one and think this ministry group could be of help to you, please join us on Tuesdays, 1:30 – 3:00 p.m., FLC 130, beginning August 23. We’ll seek God’s comfort together!
