Bob Thompson to Share on God & Country Day

FlagJuly 1

God’s Word tells us to pray for our leaders in government and to seek the peace and prosperity of our city. Every year we have a special worship service in which we emphasize prayer for our nation and give thanks to God for freedom.

We are planning such a celebration of freedom for Sunday, July 1. We will honor those who have served in our nation’s military services. We will enjoy a program of beautiful patriotic music led by the MBC Patriot Choir.

There will be one service at 10:00 a.m. We will not have Sunday School. Rev. Bob Thompson will be our speaker for the morning. He will bring a message from 1 Peter 2:11-17 entitled “Pilgrims and Patriots.”

Bob and his wife Melanie, and their 6 children have been members of Metropolitan since early 2016. Bob and Melanie are active in the Firm Foundations Sunday School class. He serves as our Sunday School Superintendent.

Bob is the Managing Director of Chaplaincy Services in the Pastoral Care Department of OU Medical System (OU Medical Center, the Children’s Hospital, and OU Medical Center – Edmond).

In the past he has been a police office/chaplain for the city of Yukon, a youth pastor, and senior pastor. He is a graduate of Baptist Bible College, Liberty University (B.S.), and Baptist Bible Theological Seminary (M.A.). He has continued graduate studies through New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Be sure to be present for the God and Country service as we thank God for His blessings on our nation and pray for spiritual awakening across our land.
