After a search process that lasted almost two years, Metropolitan Baptist Church has called Rev. Jeff Lawson as music minister. He has accepted our call and will join the pastoral staff in July. He is coming from Oak Grove, MO, where he has been music minister in the First Baptist Church for six years.
Jeff and his wife Nancy have three adult children and two grandchildren.
He is a graduate of William Jewell College in Liberty, MO, and he studied church music and religious education at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City.
Jeff has stated that he is excited about coming to Metropolitan to facilitate joyful, celebratory praise to God through traditional and contemporary music.
He and Nancy share a love for the local church and a passion for discipleship.
As a congregation we owe a big debt of thanks to those who have served faithfully on our two search committees: Robert Black, Ken Bradford, Earl Cheek, Missy Gilchrist, Carol Harkins, Johnny Hughes, and Aaron Martin.
