At last year’s annual congregational business meeting, I announced a plan that was the result of a lot of planning by church leaders. The elders and deacons, along with the pastoral staff had been engaged in over 2 years of concentrated strategic planning.
This planning work resulted in the proposal I announced: to recommend to the congregation that we develop plans for improving our facilities for children’s ministries, fellowship, and worship.
Since the time of that announcement the building steering committee worked hard through 2014 on the development of building plans, a church-wide prayer strategy, and the Forward in Faith stewardship emphasis.
One of the results of their efforts was the official decision by vote of the congregation on November 16 to proceed with the building program and with a fundraising effort. This vote passed with 90% approval for which we thank the Lord.
The Forward in Faith stewardship emphasis was launched after the holidays, and I want to say “thank you” to the many Metropolitan members and friends who have made faith commitments. These faith commitments are to give offerings “over and above” the regular contributions in support of the church’s ministry fund and world missions offerings. Thank you.
We have come a long way in a year. 2014 was eventful, and I am sure 2015 will be exciting as we begin to see the realization of plans and visible answers to prayer.
Every member is encouraged to attend the annual business meeting Sunday evening, March 8, at 6:00 p.m. Please pray for wisdom as we vote to elect elders and deacons and vote to approve our operating budget for FY 2015-16.
