A Reason to Pray

Pastor Faulkner recently received this update from some MBC friends serving Christ in India.

This semester as we are spending less time with Indian friends and more time in a classroom learning the local language, it can sometimes be easy to forget about the dark evil around us of idol worshipping.

A friend of ours recently visited a famous temple, which sparked the desire in us to learn a bit more about this specific temple and what makes it so famous. We actually watched a National Geographic video about it to learn more. It’s actually visited by thousands of people DAILY! And these people are literally herded through to see their deity for only brief seconds. But they are willing to do that because of the “peace” that they encounter as they see their god.

Here’s the link to the video that we watched if you are interested in watching it as well. It’s 45 minutes, but very informative and heart wrenching. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XYP4oH8hnuM

Needless to say, we spent the rest of our evening burdened over the lostness of the people here and praying deeply that God would captivate their hearts. We were humbled by the fact that we, as followers of Yeshu (Jesus), aren’t herded to only see/experience Him for a brief moment or a brief feeling of peace. Instead we are invited to DINE with Yeshu as he says in Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone (repeat ANYONE) opens the door, I will come and eat with Him and he with Me.”

Wow! Yeshu is KING, and we get to dine with Him. What earthly king do you know that is knocking on your door at home so that you can enjoy a meal together? Like me, probably none. But we have an ETERNAL king that wants to eat with us and bless us with His presence and EVERYTHING that comes along with that – joy, peace, satisfaction, fulfillment, true love, etc! It’s amazing! And yet millions of people in this city and country don’t know or understand that.

We know God’s heart in 1 Samuel 12:20-21 that says “Do not be afraid. You have done all this evil; yet do not turn away from the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart. Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless.” Our friends, their families, their neighbors, etc., can turn from this sin, and God will accept them and DINE with them.

Will you join us in praying they will see that the idols they are worshipping are useless and give their worship to the ONE TRUE God?
