Concert of Prayer This Sunday Evening

On Sunday evening all of us are invited to come together for the purpose of talking to God. We will gladly acknowledge our conviction that God has appointed His Son Jesus “to be head over everything for the church” (Ephesians 1:22). We will come together in the powerful presence of Jesus to pray for His guidance and provision as together we move into the future.

The Princess Bride

On Friday, May 2, at 7:00 p.m., Movies at the Met will show “The Princess Bride.” This movie has action, a love story, good versus evil, and lots of humor. It is based on a novel of the same name by William Goldman, and is considered one of the funniest movies ever made, appearing on several lists of top 50 and top 100 funny movies.  All movies are open to anyone who wants to come and are free of charge. Children are invited to appropriate movies, but they must remain under their parent’s s…

Mothers' Day – May 11

Everyone has a mother. The role of every mother is to train, to guide, to inspire, to love, and to pray. Henry Ward Beecher said, “The mother’s heart is the child’s school room.” Mother’s Day was the brainchild of a grateful daughter, Anna Jarvis, who in 1907, thought it was a good idea to have a service in church for sons and daughters to honor their mothers.

While sitting in church on a recent Sunday with her grandmother, Carolyn Churchill, Megan Meyer wrote down some insightful observations about Metropolitan. Megan is 11 years old, and presents a wonderful description of our church with this acrostic.  M usic of all sorts (long, short, loud, and soft) E xciting, yet meaningful Bible verses T he services (8:30 or 11:00) have a great pastor who teaches them well R andy Faulkner (pastor) O utstandingly large auditorium! A Search Warrant

My favorite genre of movies, TV and literature has always been mysteries. I love the thrill of figuring out “whodunnit” and why they did it. I remember watching Perry Mason after school when I was young.

Concert of Prayer – Sunday Evening, April 27 – 6:00 p.m.

A concert of prayer is a gathering of believers who understand the importance of united, corporate prayer. We believe it is time for our congregation to set aside a special time for prayer for our assembly, for repentance and humble confession, for thanksgiving and praise, for asking for God to make our church a stronger witness, that we might be a disciplemaking church. We also want to pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we seek the Lord’s direction in the ministries of the Building Ste…

Steering Committee Addresses Needs

At the annual congregational meeting in March, I introduced the Building Steering Committee, appointed by the elders and deacons, and led by chairman Larry Aspegren. These committee members are committed to Metropolitan Baptist Church’s Christian education, worship, and fellowship. They are examining ways to improve our facilities in order to strengthen our ministry to people of all ages, both now and in the future.
