Middle School Pine Cove Retreat

Each year our middle school students travel to Pine Cove for a weekend to join students from all over the country in one location where God touches lives. This year we expect to take a great group of students and leaders to Tyler, Texas, and are anxiously waiting to see what God will do while we’re there. I have yet to have a student come back from Pine Cove without telling me they had a blast!

Movies at the Met – Notorious

The next “Movies at the Met” will feature the 1946 acclaimed Alfred Hitchcock movie, “Notorious.” Starring Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman, and Claude Rains, this story is about a woman who is asked to spy on a group of Nazi friends in South America and what she has to do to gain their trust. “Notorious” contains a famous classic cinema kiss that you’ll just have to come and see. November 10 Night of Praise

November 10 is our next Night of Praise at Metropolitan, and it promises to be a delightful and inspirational evening. The program is “Generational Hymns,” and suggests the hymns of our faith are worth passing on to future generations. Hymns and spiritual songs are like old friends in that they remind us of important truths and the people who spoke them to us.

Family Thoughts – For Such a Time

“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14 (NIV) Esther was an amazing woman. She began her life as a political prisoner — an unknown, powerless person living in a foreign land — and ended up being queen of the most powerful nation on earth.

Plans for Giving to Missions

Whether you are new to Metropolitan or a long-time member, a review of our plans for giving to missions is probably a good idea. Faith Promise Missions Metropolitan Baptist Church provides monthly support to more than sixty missionaries through Faith Promise giving. FP Missionaries are full-time “career” missionaries who have applied to our church for monthly support and have been approved by the Missions Committee.

Pastor Randy: Your Missionary

Last Spring I sent a letter to some who had expressed an interest in supporting my mission trips this year. You may recall that the proposed ministry in Argentina had to be postponed because of a tragic robbery that occurred at the Word of Life Bible Institute in Buenos Aires. It was a dangerous situation, and the Institute has since had to beef up security measures.
